Tim and Eric, creators of Tim and Eric’s Awesome Show, Great Job!, will bring their comedic genius to the Grove of Anaheim on Sunday, July 26. Tickets go on sale Saturday, June 6 at Noon.
Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim met in 1994 as freshmen film students at Temple University. They became friends and collaborators on each other’s film and video assignments. After graduating, Tim moved to New York to pursue writing and acting while Eric stayed in Philadelphia working as a professional photographer. They stayed in close touch and met on weekends to make short films and strange bits of comedic nonsense.
A chance meeting with Dave Willis, co-creator of “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” at an Adult Swim party, Eric gave Dave a copy of Tim and Eric’s stuff. The DVD floated around the Adult Swim offices and found its way to Mike Lazzo, Cartoon Network’s senior vice president responsible for Adult Swim, who loved the work and asked Tim and Eric to pitch a show. Cartoon Network liked the pitch so much they gave Tim and Eric funds for development and the Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! was born. Halfway through the broadcasting of the first season, Cartoon Network picked up Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! for another season ordering as many as 30 new episodes. The second season began airing in November of 2007 and season one was released on DVD in April 2008. The show has continued to be an Adult Swim favorite and has just been renewed for a fifth season.
