The California Council for History Education will hold its fourth annual conference, September 24-26, 2009, at the Hilton Orange County in Costa Mesa (3050 Bristol Street). Keynoter Teo Ruiz of UCLA will launch the conference at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday September 24th with an address titled "Jews, Conversos, and the Inquisition in Iberia," followed immediately by the CCHE's famous free opening reception. Other featured speakers include the University of Michigan's Bob Bain on Friday morning and Tim Sistrunk from CSU Chico leading off Saturday morning's sessions. Standards-based content lectures by university scholars, field-tested lessons by teachers, and presentations by participants in, and directors of, Teaching American History grants from throughout the state will round out the program.
