Lucha Libre

I'm a pretty big fan of Anita Baker but I have to draw the line. This is the second time in a year that I saw her and her own sound engineer ruined her sound both times. Anita, let the venue handle it because they know how to do it. First at the Greek and now at the Pacific....the dude is a reverb freak and yet she hasn't fired him. The reverb was irritating Anita and everyone else from the first couple minutes...the sound was buzzing and feeding back. Tonight was the worst ever because the Pacific appears to have a new rule where you play for 90 minutes and get off the stage or the artist loses a portion of their income. So Anita came on about 15 minutues late and did her “primer thing” where the band plays and plays while she walks around and says hello to everyone. So basically a third of the concert was done after the first song. All the other songs had long intros which basically meant she played about 6 or 7 songs for the entire concert....with horrible sound.
Lastly, she kept her musicians in the back on risers and would walk by individually to say hi. It reminded me of someone visiting the dog shelter. She needs to bring the musicians down on the stage and add some entertainment to the show. Her keeping the whole stage so she can dance isn’t what I call entertainment. Did I mention they shut down the big screens for her show? From my vantage I couldn’t see the background singers because the curtain was in the way. Why would they shut down the big screens?….stupid stupid stupid.
It was the perfect storm.
Anita, I love you but you owe me a refund before I ever come see you again. raysmillion@sbcglobal.net
