Secretive spot for hipsters to hang, drink and nosh on inventive Modern American fare. Located on the outskirts of The CAMP retail center, but there's no signage. The roof lifts on one side of the building to allow smoking and lounging in open-air ambience while also being warmed by intimate fireplaces.

By now you know that I do not do hip well, which might explain why I stayed away from Mesa for so long. The 21-and-over restaurant and lounge opened nearly two years ago to a lot of buzz. The kind of low murmur that gets attention without seemingly seeking it. (Full review)
When Mesa first opened last year, the buzz was that it was slated to be the new bastion of cool in O.C. — what with its deliberate lack of signage, a dress code and that ultra sleek atrium-style dining area with a retractable roof. (Full review)
At first, it was kind of cool. The Mesa restaurant/bar in Costa Mesa had one of the those unGoogleable names, a la A Restaurant in Newport, and it didn’t even have a sign outside, so unless you were in the know, it was just another grayish building. (Full review)
All signs point to this sophisticated nightspot. (Full review)
We have seen the future and it's Mesa. Drinking and noshing at this super moderne lounge and restaurant, with its blond wood décor and individual restrooms, makes you feel like you're on a luxury yacht. Food is divided into large and small plates, so order at will until you get your fill. (Full review)
