For chile verde and pork doused in a chili powder concoction, Anita's "New Mexico-style" food is my destination.
Inside, Anita's transports you to the New Mexican border. Bushels of red chile cascade down the wall next to faded portraits of Native Americans. Booths are crafted out of dark wood. The sand-colored paint makes you feel as if you're eating in a stark, adobe mission-style building.
This restaurant was named after Anita Tellez, who opened her first Anita's in Virgina and left a legacy of more than 20 restaurants nationwide. (By JENNIFER MUIR, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER)
