A retail wine shop, bar and bistro featuring wines from around the world, "new American" cuisine, wine tastings and events. Proprietors are Darren and Jean Coyle, natives of Ireland who have lived in Mission Viejo more than a decade. Darren, a manufacturing company executive by day, wanted to open a friendly, neighborhood wine store-bar-bistro that offers great food and wine and makes it “easy and adventuresome to choose wine that goes with food” in a comfortable, non-intimidating atmosphere. The executive chef is Chad Jackson, who landed on the Wineworks doorstep after returning to the states from an extended stay in northern Spain, where he learned different flavors. Signature dishes include Brie fondue with sliced pears and toasted rustic bread; curry sliders (mini-burgers fragrant with cumin and tamarind chutney); grilled flatiron steak with garlic mashed potatoes, sunburst squash, boysenberry demi; pistachio halibut, with cheese grits, French green beans, red bell pepper coulis; crab cakes with quinoa cole slaw and spicy remoulade.
Sip and Save Tuesday wine tastings are the deal of the week: $5 for five 2-ounce pours of great wines priced $7-$13 bottle. Regular $25 wine tastings (also five 2-ounce pours) are on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

I went to Wineworks for the first time last Friday and I must say I think it's a brilliant idea. The atmosphere was comforting and the food was delicious. I loved it. I'll be making reservations again & again.

We have been to Wineworks twice, first time about 6 weeks ago and had a pretty bad experience with the food, so we thought we would give it a second chance.
Big Mistake !
Second time was even worse.
Food is lousy (...most of the dishes we got were cold), service is provided by a bunch of (not very motivared) college students and surprisingly the wines they serve are far below average and also way overpriced. For example a glass of Chardonnay for $ 20 !
To sum it all up: There are much better restaurants in OC to spend your money !

Food was fantastic, a great glass of Pinot Noir was $12, service was great and attentive, atmosphere was fun, entertainment was also good.

Wineworks for Everyone owners Darren and Jean Coyle really do want to make the vast world of wine a friendly place. Their tiny little slice of Mission Viejo serves as a one-stop wine shop, bistro and bar where dozens of bottles are artfully showcased along the walls. At the back of the store sits the bistro and bar, a dimly lit intimate space that purrs of sophistication. The air of refinment never gets stuffy, however, and this in part is due to Wineworks’ friendly staff who aim to take the sometimes daunting world of wine and make it understandable and fun, for novices and wine connoisseurs alike.
