There are moments in Gavin Hood's "Rendition" that suggest a parody of a modern, "Babel"-style political drama. It's the sort of squarely topical, hyper-melodramatic "plea for understanding" that would – if not for a few graphic torture scenes – blend in seamlessly with the Lifetime Network's usual stable of adulterous husbands and runaway teenagers.
