No frills, quality pizza by the beach, loved by locals since 1963. Some say it's the best pizza in Orange County. The dough is churned right behind counter, the ingredients are fresh and the crust is crisp. Except for a dorky beach mural on one wall, the decor might as well be non-existent, but that’s part of the charm. It’s not as cheap as a pizza-delivery chain -- almost $10 for a small cheese pizza -- but it’s one-of-a-kind and right by the beach. They’ve got all the typical varieties, plus some Newport specials like The Balboa -- white sauce, grilled, chicken, fresh tomato, chopped garlic and basil. You can also get a take-and-bake pizza to bring home and save for later. The catch: Not in the pizza mood? Your only other choice is salad.
