David Ruffin first became known to listeners as the voice of “My Girl” by The Temptations in 1965. He left the band in 1968 after internal personality clashes and went on to crack the charts repeatedly as a solo artist throughout the seventies and eighties. Sadly he fell prey to the lures of substance abuse and died of a drug overdose in 1991.
