Tom Hooper

This British Columbia native started performing with his brother, Chris Hooper, as a teenager. After a short stint as a punk rock group called Kill Pigs, the band evolved into the Gentlemen of Horror and released a debut EP in 1981. From there, the group renamed itself the Grapes of Wrath and became a mainstay on Canadian rock radio from 1986 to 1991. The band released four albums and had hit singles such as All the Things I Wasn't. But the band broke up in 1992 and from there, Tom Hooper and Chris formed Ginger. The group was three quarters of the Grapes of Wrath with only singer Kevin Kane missing. In 2000, the Grapes of Wrath reunited for an album and brief tour. After the reunion, Hooper retreated to Saltspring Island off the coast of British Columbia. While there, he recorded solo material and continued performing as a solo act. In late 2001, he sent a demo into Bullseye Records of Canada, who immediately signed him. In 2002, Hooper released his debut album The Unexplored Cosmos. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
